Business Communications, Inc., (BCI), along with CISCO Systems, Inc., recently partnered with the Tourism Division of the Mississippi Development Authority to provide WiFi Internet access to visitors at three of the state’s 12 Welcome Centers.
WiFi (short for for wireless fidelity) is a technology that allows users to receive and transmit data over the Internet at high speeds from anywhere within the broadcast signal range.
“We are pleased to now provide this often requested service… Today, virtual information and communication are a part of everyday life and this service provided by the Welcome Centers is another example of how Mississippi is keeping pace with the ever-evolving technical society,” said Craig Ray, Director, Mississippi Tourism Development.
Desoto, Hancock and Lauderdale County Welcome Centers now offer WiFi as part of the state’s initiative to expand WiFi Internet access to all 12 Welcome Centers staffed by the Tourism Division of the Mississippi Development Authority.
“The Desoto, Hancock and Lauderdale County Welcome Centers were selected for the WiFi pilot project as a result of the number of travelers passing through these centers,” explained Tonya Neely, Manager, Mississippi Welcome Center Program.
